Position Name:  CNC Production Support Specialist (2nd Shift)
 
Position Summary: 
The CNC Production Specialist is responsible for working to troubleshoot any CNC machining issues on the production floor.  This position provides programming support for Process Improvements (IMPs) as well as New Product Initiatiatives (NPI) by refining and optimizing machining processes using software such as GIBBSCAM.  This includes following all the steps as defined by corrective and preventative action (C/PAs) work instructions to ensure all documentation is properly updated and communicated.  The CNC Production Specialist will work with the CNC Manager to train production staff on set-ups and operating IMPs.  Finally, this position is responsible for working across all company lines to provide leadership and knowledge in machining best practices at Tri-Mack.
 
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Work with NPI / IMP engineering to help prove out all new and existing CNC programs and correct problems as required.  Improve and optimize existing machining processes already in Production. 
  • Provide direct support to the CNC Manager as an expert setting up and operating any CNC equipment.
  • Assist in training of all CNC machining activities.
  • Document and prepare detailed work instructions and set-up files for NPIs and IMPs.
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with Engineering and Production to ensure parts are machining in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Train with Senior Programmers to create and maintain programs for multi-axis CNC machines using CAD/CAM software such as GIBBSCAM.
  • Work with Project Engineering to design and cut work-holding using software such as Solidworks and Gibbscam.
  • Assist Management in the selection of new machines as appropriate. 
  • Work directly with Quality to verify inspection techniques for IMPs.
  • Actively pursue opportunities to develop new skills within the department and across departmental lines.
  • Work in a manner that ensures your own safety and the safety of your co-workers, always use correct PPE, and never run a machine without proper guarding.

  • Adhere to all AS9100 requirements as specified in work instructions and by your supervisor.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by Engineering or Production.

Skills & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required, Vocational training a plus, some college is preferred
  • Strong programming skills in CAD/CAM (Cimatron preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years in a CNC Machining environment required; past experience training and coaching others is preferred
  • Strong blueprint interpretation, understanding of tolerance specifications and good working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience utilizing inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, optical comparators and CMMs.
  • Must be highly organized and comfortable in a fast paced manufacturing environment, able to manage priorities as well as understand the demands of production.
  • Proven problem solving abilities, attention to detail and analytical skills are required; Comfortable with technical issues, leveraging previous technical experience.
  • Some experience with lean manufacturing helpful.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills along with the ability to handle multiple priorities at any time.
  • Established computer skills in Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, get along with coworkers and support other areas of Production as needed.
