Job Description

Quality Technician (1st and 2nd shift)
Position Summary: 
This position is responsible for inspecting incoming material and updating/creating inspection documentation.  The Quality Technician performs detailed 1st piece inspections, performs final inspections, first articles and creating quality/process documentation for customer approval. This position requires good working knowledge of standard measurement tools such as micrometer, calipers, height gages, and optical comparator.   The position also requires use of our CMM system to verify parts. This position requires a good working knowledge of blueprint reading, good computer and documentation skills.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Inspect and document incoming material for determining part conformance to prints and specifications.
  • Perform first piece inspection and final inspection.
  • Prepare electronic documentation (FAI, Locked Process, etc.) for submission to customers.
  • Investigate product quality issues and determine root cause and corrective actions
  • Assist with both internal and external audits.
  • Work with Engineering and Production to address any product issues.
  • Adhere to all AS9100 requirements.

Skills & Experience

Education, Skills & Experience:
  • High School diploma required.  College degree or college level engineering course work preferred.
  • 5 years minimum working in a Quality Control environment
  • Extensive experience with manual micrometers, calipers and optical comparators.
  • Experience running or programming CMMs or equivalent CAD experience.
  • Must be comfortable with all aspects of geometric tolerances
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
  • Experience documenting inspections in Excel and computer based SPC data collection systems.
  • Computer/documentation proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel Power Point and Outlook.
  • Manage complex and competing priorities as well as understand the demands of customers, engineers, sales reps, and production operators.
  • Working knowledge of injection molding and machining methods, procedures, and cost-reduction techniques.
  • Comfortable with technical issues and can leverage previous technical experience to solve technical problems.
  • Ability to analyze and prioritize information, distilling it to the critical issues and determining part conformance to prints and specifications.
  • Must be able to work independently.
