Job Description

Position Summary: The Lead Shipping Associate is responsible for overseeing and accurately shipping all customer parts listed on the daily backlog shipping report. This position reviews work orders for accuracy, creates packing lists and invoices. It pulls proper quantities from inventory and packages and labels parts according to customer specifications. The Lead Shipping Associate along with the Materials Manager, works directly with Sales and Quality Control to ensure all parts are open in the customer portals and ready to ship. It is responsible for updating the MRP system (Visual) and ensuring all data entry and finished goods is correct. It is responsible for assisting the Materials Manager in the proper cross-training for shipping functions. Finally, the Lead Shipping Associate must effectively communicate across all department lines to avoid unexpected problems or delays. This is a full time (40 hours) position and may require overtime.
 
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
 
• Participate, guide and motivate team to achieve timely/accurately picking, packing and shipping of all Sales Orders.
• Pull, count, process and invoice daily orders using the Visual Manufacturing system and customer portals.
• Invoice all customer shipments prior to final shipment. Ensure all invoiced shipments leave the building in a timely manner.
• Follow the customer shipping and packaging requirements and assist the DSQRs by updating the packaging procedures as needed.
• Process all government orders and coordinate with the Government inspector as required.
• Coordinate with the QC department for final shipping approval before boxes are sealed.
• Process orders Domestic/International on preferred shipping system (e.g. UPS, FEDEX, DHL, Freight Carriers)
• Oversee the Inventory levels on all packaging and shipping material products.
• Maintain an accurate inventory control within finished goods physically and systematically in Visual. Assist with weekly and yearly cycle counts and ensure high levels of accuracy.
• Assist the Materials Manager in documenting all procedures and ensure Work Instructions are correct and followed.
• Assist in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Cross-train in all areas of the Materials Department.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Conduct yourself in an ethical and professional and adhere to all Tri-Mack values
• Adhere to all AS9100 and OSHA requirements
• All other duties assigned by the Materials Manager
 
 
 

Skills & Experience

Education, Skills & Experience:
 
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
• Minimum of 2+ years as a lead shipper with supervisory experience is required.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office is required
• Working knowledge of an MRP is preferred, prior Visual experience is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds at a time unassisted and ability to stand for a long period of time.
• Good administration skills, including written and oral skills
• Manage priorities as well as understand the demands of others.
• Ability to show up to work on time each day and stay through the end of the shift.
• Must be able to work independently as well as get along with others.
