Job Description

Position Summary:
 
This position is responsible for performing a variety of operations to clean and/or repair molds that are used in plastic injection molding machines. This includes the breakdown, cleaning and reassembly of molds based on the information provided in the work orders. The position works directly with Engineering, Tool Room and Production to troubleshoot and resolve any mold issues. It also requires the ability to work independently, adhere to strict safety ISO and OSHA guidelines, maintain a clean work area and keep all molds/equipment in good, working condition.
 
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
 
• Based on the Production schedule, retrieve the molds for preparation for use in the Injection Molding Department. • After each use, breakdown, inspect, clean and reassemble plastic injection molds safely according to the work orders. This may include grinding, polishing, filing and all other cleaning/hand tools using skill and proper care.
• Update and document any new processes or changes, as necessary.
• Properly tag and store all molds based on it’s status (red, green, yellow).
• Identify any mold maintenance issues and communicate finding to the Tool Room and/or Engineering for repair.
• Perform normal and preventative maintenance on each mold as required.
• Demonstrate a personal commitment to quality, health and safety. Adhere to all ISO and OSHA regulations.
• All other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience

Education, Skills & Experience:
 
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of two to four years related experience.
• Prior experience in a Tool Room with injection molds is required..
• Working knowledge of standard OSHA regulations.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting capability.
• Basic computer and math skills is required, blueprint reading skills is preferred.
• Physical ability to properly move molds and other equipment as needed. Ability to lift 40 pounds and stand for 8 hours a day.
• Ability to get along with others and show up ready to work each day.
• Ability to train and support others as needed.
