Job Description

Position Name:  CNC Set-up Technician 2nd shift
Position Summary: 
This position is responsible for setting-up and operating CNC lathe machines. The job requires the ability to read blueprints (GD&T) and apply knowledge of machining methods in order to produce quality parts. It also requires strong metrology skills and the ability to identify and solve machining issues. This position provides leadership to the machine operators and helps to troubleshoot problems. The CNC Set-up Technician must work independently, adhere to strict safety guidelines, maintain a clean work area and keep all equipment in good, working condition.
 
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Setup an operate CNC machines, such as single and dual spindle lathe, to machine production and prototype parts.
  • Perform full set-ups, program edits, and holding tolerances as tight as +/- .001
  • Trouble-shoot problems and think critically.
  • Assist machine operators with offsets, changing tools, and troubleshooting issues with part dimensions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints (GD&T) and drawings.
  • Support and adhere to the applicable AS9100 standard requirements including required documentation for set-up and operation of manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to quality, health and safety. 
  • All other assigned duties.
 
 

Skills & Experience

Education, Skills & Experience:
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of five years related experience.
  • $3.00 Second Shift differential
  • Experience on CNC single dual spindle lathe machines is required, with Okuma Thinc controller preferred.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, sit and lift up to 40 pounds for 8 to 12 hours per day.
  • General math knowledge including application of geometry for turn-mill tool paths.
  • Knowledge of M and G codes for turn-mill applications.
  • Ability to show up to work on time each day
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Support others as needed.
